Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions patients and families ask most often about the practice, membership, and clinical care.
About the Practice
What is concierge neurology?
Concierge neurology is a membership-based model of care that provides direct access to a neurologist, longer appointments, and continuity across evaluation and treatment — rather than care divided among a rotating group of providers.
How is this practice different from a traditional neurology office?
Traditional neurology practices are often structured around volume, with brief visits and limited availability. This practice maintains a deliberately limited number of patients so that each person receives more time, direct physician access, and coordinated follow-through.
Who is concierge neurology designed for?
This practice is designed for individuals who value a direct relationship with their physician, privacy and discretion in their care, and the time required for a comprehensive evaluation and thoughtful decision-making.
Does Dr. Chopra treat both new and existing neurological conditions?
Yes. The practice evaluates new neurological symptoms as well as manages existing or ongoing conditions, including complex or previously diagnosed cases.
What conditions does Dr. Chopra treat?
Dr. Chopra's clinical focus includes stroke, epilepsy, headache and migraine, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, peripheral neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders, balance disorders, and dizziness, in addition to brain health and cognitive wellness. Please visit the Services page for a complete list.
Membership & Access
Does Dr. Chopra accept commercial insurance?
Rajan Chopra, MD is out of network with commercial insurance plans. When appropriate, professional services may be billed to your plan as an out-of-network provider; otherwise they are billed directly to you at the practice's self-pay rates. On request, you may receive a superbill to submit to your carrier for any available out-of-network reimbursement, which is determined solely by your insurance plan.
What about Medicare?
Dr. Chopra participates in Medicare. Medicare-covered professional services are billed to Medicare in accordance with Medicare rules. The annual concierge membership fee covers only non-covered concierge services and does not replace or duplicate Medicare-covered medical care.
What does the membership include, and how are visits billed?
The annual membership covers non-covered concierge services — enhanced physician access, priority scheduling, direct communication, and care coordination. Professional medical services, such as consultations, follow-up visits, telemedicine, and home visits, are billed separately. The fee schedule is shared during a private conversation, so you have a clear picture before enrolling.
How do I become a member?
Membership begins with an inquiry through the practice's contact page. Availability is intentionally limited, and each inquiry is reviewed personally by Dr. Chopra's office.
How long are appointments?
Appointments are intentionally longer than a typical office visit, with time allocated based on the complexity of the concern rather than a fixed schedule.
Can I schedule an appointment for a family member?
Yes. Please contact the practice directly, and a member of the office will assist with next steps.
How do I get started?
Please visit the Contact page to submit an inquiry. Inquiries are reviewed personally by Dr. Chopra's office.
Clinical Care
What happens during an initial consultation?
An initial consultation includes a detailed discussion of medical history and current concerns, a neurological examination, and time to ask questions before any next steps are recommended.
Can I see Dr. Chopra without becoming a member?
The Executive Brain Health Assessment is available to non-members as a standalone service. Ongoing private concierge neurology participation is limited and by application. Please contact the practice to discuss your specific situation.
What is included in a brain health evaluation?
A brain health evaluation typically includes a clinical history, cognitive assessment, and review of relevant health factors such as sleep, blood pressure, and mood. Additional testing, such as MRI or neuropsychological evaluation, is recommended only when clinically appropriate.
Can brain health evaluation prevent dementia?
No evaluation or treatment can guarantee the prevention of dementia or another cognitive condition. Dr. Chopra's approach is to provide individualized, evidence-based guidance regarding modifiable risk factors and overall cognitive health.
How does Dr. Chopra coordinate care with other physicians?
Dr. Chopra communicates directly with a patient's other physicians, specialists, and hospital teams to help ensure that neurological care remains coordinated with the rest of a patient's medical care.
